Dear Dan and Sheryl,

I don't know how I'm ever supposed to follow Merci's speech about you two, because it was quite inspiring and beautiful. I'm not an artist and I'm not a writer, but I did say I would write you a letter. Forgive me in advance because in delusional states I often don't recall what I've written and sometimes they don't even make sense to anyone other than me. I'm going to transfer that letter here, just because ultimately, the internet and this site will undoubtedly outlive me.

For many years, you've always been husband and wife in my eyes. I truly can't remember the last time I referred to either of you by not saying you were the other person's spouse. Life isn't always great, it's not always magic. But, seeing you guys together all these years makes me believe that you guys might be the exception. You're both amazing people that impact so many people and I can't thank you both enough for who you are. I see you guys much like Chess. The two most important pieces in the game are the King and Queen. Of course, all of the other pieces are also important, much like all of the different friend circles we have together. We all play an important role in life, but without the King or Queen, no one would stand a chance. The King is precise, meticulous, and tactful. The King may not make huge moves every turn, but every move he makes is thought out strategically. The Queen is adventurous, sometimes supporting everyone else, and sometimes being the force that leads the charge to victory. You guys are going to be there for each other as husband and wife, and I have no doubts that you'll both be successful and have that happily ever after.

DEAR SHERYL,

It's truly challenging to put into words just how much I care about you. The short story would simply be, I literally don't know where I would be if it wasn't for you. Once upon a time, my life was at its lowest. My life was in complete ruin, and you were there for me, you kept me going and you kept me alive. I owe you my life, and it's a debt I'll never forget. You are my best friend, I would be lost without you, I love you more than you'll ever know. You're one of the few people on this planet that gives me a reason to seek a better and healthier life. I owe you everything. My life is like a giant boat out to sea, and the sea is life itself, full of the unknown, disaster, and monsters waiting to pick my bones clean at every turn. You are the captain of the ship, you always help me get from port to port safely, when danger is straight ahead. You constantly foresee disaster and steer my life away from it. Without you, I'd be lost out to sea, and I've been lost before, and I don't want it to happen again. I need you in my life, we're in this together. I'm not the best writer, or that great with emotion in general. I just need you to know, I love you.
